Other Niche Communities Curation Report #320

OCD's support is expanding!

Hello everyone! This is the 320th compilation post of OCD's latest curation efforts. It has been known that OCD has been supporting leading niche communities under its Community Incubation Program. However, there are still a lot of other niche communities not supported by OCD. This curation initiative will help in supporting those communities.

This newest curation effort aims to encourage authors to post in appropriate communities even if those communities are not under the incubation program. This will also encourage users to explore more into the different communities in Hive.

How this Works

OCD curators and community leaders will find posts from other niche communities and recommend them for an upvote. Unlike those communities in the incubation program where curation is focused, this curation initiative is spread out. This will help find undervalued posts from smaller communities that deserve support.

This will highlight both the author and the community where the post is located. This way, smaller niche communities can focus on growing their subscribers and increasing the engagements within their respective communities. A small boost goes a long way.

Speaking of boost, here are the curated posts for this batch:

Monochromatic beauties

Birds colours are, more often than not, the reason why they're admired. Nevertheless, there's beauty in a black and white photo. Changes the mood a little bit, doesn't it? And from my experiences, our winged friends look great on monochrome too!

(ESP/ENG) Un interesante mural con temática acuática / An interesting aquatic-themed mural 🐙😺🐚

Hi everyone! This week I bring you to show a mural that is a few blocks from where I live. The funny thing? I had never noticed him! And that I have a lot of time passing by, in fact, I pass by almost every day when I go out to the center. It is located in the East of the City of Barquisimeto in Venezuela. I looked everywhere and did not find any sign of a signature, therefore, I have the theory that it is a mural made by the owners of that building (Before, when I made things for myself, I did not sign them 😅).

Incredible marigolds / Неймовірні чорнобривці (Ua/En)

Hi, I always admire these beautiful flowers. And every year the seeds are sown in the garden. I am very happy when marigolds bloom so brightly and bloom all summer until late autumn. Then I collect seeds from faded marigold flowers. And next spring I will sow a flower bed with these flowers again. Marigolds are not picky about the climate and soil. They can be grown in pots on the balcony and in the flower garden.

Photojournal: Feeling the holiday season in a new found spot in the city

Before the pandemic hit, our usual activities on weekends are mostly going to a new restaurant and eating good food. We would spend the rest of the afternoon walking and drinking coffee until we call it a day. Social activities like that were brief during the weekend because the reality of living in the city makes time quite faster than the usual. Of course the way we would meet and spend time with friends and families changed in the last two years. Most often than not, we would just meet virtually through video calls. Thankfully, last weekend, we were able to do the usual going out and exploring something new, just life before.

Camel Spider and Nanay's Collection of Flowers

These photos were taken on April 1, 2021. While uploading, I wondered how come I was able to get pictures at Nanay's garden as early as 7:29 am then I remembered that this was the time we were living at Nanay's house because my husband is trying to make a living and wanted to escape from being a nanny of our kids. We were financially tight at that time and he wanted to help in getting money anywhere he could. In a good and clean way of course.

Campaigning for Itínera - The First Fully Autonomous Theater in the World

Okay, this point may be not the most important one, but it's what people tend to notice first, so I'll get it out of the way. A used car tire offers itself perfectly to be filled with dirt, and compact it to the max. Even a small tire can eat up around 100 liters (25 gallons) of soil, turning it into a very heavy brick-like unit. Placed on top of each other, they will form a super heavy, and thus stable wall, which however will retain a bit of its flexibility. It's made out of rubber, after all. This comes in super handy when it has to resist earthquakes. Sure, the plaster may crack and crumble, but the wall itself is going to absorb the movement of the ground. Also, it will withstand flooding, be unaffected by fires, and form a protective layer against radiation (should that ever be the case). Most importantly, though, it turns a serious problem into a useful building material. I mean, what else could you do with old tires, other than burning them (quickly contaminating our atmosphere), or tossing them (contaminating our soil and water)? In our structure we managed to incorporate about 500 tires, which means 500 less tires wrecking our ecosystem. And once they are plastered over, there is no chance of off-gassing.

Cayenne Oxymel | My grandmother's recipe.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, locally known as cayenne flower, is one of the noblest flowers to make oxymel, since in a short time we can have a concentrate of all its properties.

Grandmother used cayenne oxime to relieve the symptoms of the common cold. But over the years she learned that it could also be applied directly to the scalp to restore vitality, eliminate dandruff and give hair a spectacular shine.

Reminiscent from the never meeting ones [ENG/ES] Reminiscencia de los que nunca se conocieron.

In these words, I try to get myself out of my comfort zone, by sharing some writings that are inspired by fantasies and desire, a thematic that is very difficult to tackle without it sounding ridiculous or utterly bad. Hopefully, you find it interesting.

Mi nostalgia en Navidad │ relato [Esp - Eng]

December has arrived. Today, the month is coming with the usual airs of Christmas. A season loved by many for the joy it brings. And sad for others who, like me, have been away from their loved ones for a long time. I had to leave what was my home for as long as I can remember, because of disagreements with my father. A rigid and upright man, very straight in his ways, but inflexible and sometimes tyrannical.
