The Bangobandhu Satellite-1

The very first Satellite of Bangladesh “Bangobandhu Satellite-1 (BS-1)” will be launching tomorrow, May 10, 2018. The satellite named by the name of Bangobandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman, the father of the nation. This satellite was scheduled for launching before. But now this time, it is going to be happening. It was a dream for the Bangladeshi people to have their satellite in the space, now the time has come to make the dream come true.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is being implemented for this project. The total cost of the satellite Bangobandhu-1 was approximately 247.95 USD, which is 19.52 Billion in Bangladeshi currency (Taka). And it is going to be the very first payload of Falcon 9 Block 5. Falcon 9 rocket is a partially medium lift-launch vehicle which is manufactured and designed by Space X. And Block 5 is the new model of the Falcon 9 Rocket. The satellite expected to be located on East longitude geostationary slot. The satellite Bangobandhu-1 is designed and manufactured by Thales Alenia Space. And it will be launched from Space X.

This satellite’s lifespan is predicted to be 15 years and more. The bangobandhu-1 satellite has capacity of 1600 megahertz with a total of 40Ku and c-band transponders.

The most benefits of this satellite are going to be the SAARC countries communication coverage. The Bangobandhu Satellite-1 (BS-1) will be most useful for middle-east countries for television channels which are a large commercial viewership. And also other communication sectors will be benefited in many ways.
