Jatiya Party candidate in the city corporation elections of HM Ershad, the candidate of the Awami League lost the ruling Awami League candidate for mayoral post.
Jatiya Party's mayor candidate Mostafijar Rahman Mostafa won the party symbol on Thursday in the elections, winning 1 lakh 60 thousand 489 votes.
The party's candidate Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, the candidate of the Awami League, got 98,889 votes less than that. He got 62,400 votes in boat symbol.

Returning Officer Subhash Chandra Sarkar declared the results in midnight after counting of votes in 193 centers including EVMs in one.
He said that a total of 2,02,272 people voted out of nearly four lakh voters. The voting rate is 74.30 percent.
In an immediate reaction to the declaration of the winner privately, Mostafa told bdnews24.com, "I sacrificed my victory to Rangpur people. In the past I was beside the Rangpur people, I am currently in the future. "
