Jesse Spots – Looking at the map for “Austin Bombings”
Jesse Spots looks at the map of Austin and the recent package bombs that exploded and left two people dead and three people wounded. The curiosity and the similarity is that all three package bombs occurred on the east side of Austin.
Anyone familiar with Austin knows that the east to north-east parts of town has a predominantly African-American community and the lower south-east mainly Mexican American community, both in the lower to mid income bracket. I’m generalizing, but this is the greater makeup of Austin’s demographic. I listened to Jesse’s comments and was intrigued with his astute assessment of what might be the motivation for these terrible events.
Is it race-related? Who or what is motivating a person(s) to send package bombs in an attempt to kill innocent people and terrorize a community that is surely already struggling to survive in our tight economy?
An excerpt from the online version of the Austin American-Statesman suggests it could be motivated by hate-crime and be race-related.
This may seem insignificant, but having been a fan of the Formula 1 race racket, my thoughts automatically turned to the newish F1 race track built in Austin a few years ago. These sporting events are big business and attract the richest and wealthiest people in the world, so it’s not too far-fetched to think of there being an economic motivation for what is taking place in Austin.
Most of us know this already, but it doesn’t hurt to remind ourselves that the people at the helm of control like to keep that control by using division and fear.
So, what do you think? Could there be an economic motivation and not just a speculation of a race-related hate crime? It’s definitely something to think about.
