Colorado has multiple wildfires burning at the moment, but yet another dangerous wildfire was discovered this morning, July 5th in the popular tourist destination of Breckenridge, Colorado. Throughout the day this fire grew from 50 square ft to a whopping 80 acres! The fire has been fueled by a trifecta of wind, dry weather, and lots of beetle kill trees. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
The town of Breckenridge, Colorado is on high alert, and has mandatory evacuations for the peak 7 neighborhood (463 residents were displaced). The rest of the town is under a pre-evacuation notice.
This fire has now gained attention from fire fighters from multiple counties in Colorado, and even some support from firefighters in Utah.
While we see our fair share of wildfires in Colorado, this one is much closer to home for me, and I'm praying for all of the brave firefighters and other emergency workers whom are battling this blaze. If you're reading this, please put your prayers out there for the men and women risking their lives to fight this fire, and to all the people in the town of Breckenridge.
