Six shot dead in UPDF infighting in Khagrachhari

Khagrachhari: At least six people were gunned down and four others injured in a deadly gunfight between two factions of Chattogram Hill Tracts-based political group United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) at Swanirbhar in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the gun battle between the two factions of ‘UPDF Prasit’ and ‘UPDF Democratic’ groups broke out over establishing control over the area around 8:00am, leaving the six people dead, reports the UNB.
Three of the deceased were identified as Tapan Chakma, district unit president of Prasit group’s Pahari Chhatra Parishad, another leader Elton Chakma, Ganatrantrik Jubo Forum leader Polash Chakma, backed by United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF-Prasit).
