Japanese news agency Kyodo said the windows were destroyed in the school. One schoolboy was injured in this incident.
The largest number of US troops on the southern island of Okinawa are in Japan. In the wake of several accidents and criminal incidents for years, dissatisfaction among local people has been rising in the US base.
Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said, "Such accidents do not only cause concern to school-related people, but also create concern among the people of Okinawa," Reuters news agency reported. Such incidents should never happen.
The US military confirmed the incident in a statement, saying that a helicopter window opened in an elementary school playground outside the US Marine Corps Air Station Fireman.
