A family of five Americans on vacation in Costa Rica was among the victims of the New Year's plane crash that killed 12 people aboard, local investigators and the media reported.
The small plane with 10 US tourists and two local crew members crashed and exploded in a forest area in Guanacaste, in northwestern Costa Rica, according to government reports on Sunday.
