CALANG - Aceh Jaya Police Officers seized the Star Bulan flag which was flown by Hamdan Cukhop, a former GAM combatant, in front of his house in Gampong Baro Sayeung Village, Setia Bakti Sub-district, Aceh Jaya, on Tuesday (8/15) 08.30, then he lowered at 11:30 pm. The police also checked the concerned in Aceh Jaya Mapolres for the flag-raising which was once known as the GAM flag.
Interestingly, Cukhop that in the morning raising the flag of the Moon, in the afternoon actually hoisted the flag of Merah Putih witnessed by Kapolres AKBP Eko Purwanto and Dandim 0114 Lieutenant Colonel Kav Haerus Shaleh in front of his house. He also paid tribute to the Dwiwarna that afternoon.
The raising of the Moon Star flag has not been justified, so our flag is confiscated. We also asked for information in mapolres, said AKBP police chief Eko Purwanto to Serambi, in Calang, on Tuesday (15/8).
The Chief of Police asked all citizens not to be reckless in raising the Star Bulan flag in order to maintain order and security in Aceh Jaya region, since the flag has not been approved by the Minister of Home Affairs as the Aceh flag, as set by the entire faction in the DPRA in 2013.
