Beat Bayern, Eintracht Frankfurt Champion DFB-Pokal


Berlin - Eintracht Frankfurt came out as DFB-Pokal champion after beating Bayern Munich 3-1. Frankfurt also ended its 30-year wait in DFB-Pokal.

Playing at the Olympiastadion on Sunday (20/05/2018) night, Bayern actually controlled the game. However, they missed three goals created by counterattack quickly.

Frankfurt goals were created by Ante Rebic (two goals) and Mijat Gacinovic. Meanwhile, Bayern is only able to reply through goals Robert Lewandowski.

This became the fifth DFB-Pokal title for Frankfurt. Before winning this year, Frankfurt last won the title in 1988.

Meanwhile, with this defeat, Bayern failed to win the double.

The game

Bayern conceded first in the 11th minute. Frankfurt's goals stem from James Rodriguez's mistake in possession of the ball.

Ante Rebic, who managed to snatch the ball from James's feet, thrust it into Kevin-Prince Boateng. Boateng did not linger with the ball and he immediately thrust it back to Ante Rebic to do a solo-run and scored a goal.

Bayern tried to find a counterweight by launching a barrage of attacks. But until the first half was over, 10 shots were released fruitless goals.

Balancing goal awaited Die Roten newly created in the second round. Lewandowski scored a goal in the 53rd minute after utilizing feedback from Joshua Kimmich.
