Pressure Mounts on Truck Driver Case to Reduce Sentence

There are millions of people who have signed the petition for the truck driver in Colorado, expressing their disagreement with the sentence that had been given.

Over 100 years in prison for this driver of the accident that led to a multi car pileup and several people lost their lives.

A number of people say he shouldn't receive any time at all for an accident, others say his sentence should be significantly reduced.

The point is that this case has now earned the attention that many cases don't often get and that is the watchful public eye to the point where millions are sifting through the details and expressing their opinion online.

The pressure has grown to the point that now it looks like a DA is going to ask the court to reduce that sentence to 20 or 30 years instead of the 100+.

It looks like the pressure in this case from the public that has been growing seems to have influenced circumstances, if not then why would they be looking to reduce the sentence? From one where it was alleged originally that the judge didn't have discretion in the matter.

There are countless cases where you can point to violent individuals who have harmed children or kidnapped others etc and who have been faced with far less time in the U.S. justice system. It's no wonder so many people would hear about this, think about those realities, and be upset about what this person is facing.

There are many within the criminal justice system who face similar injustices.

There are some people still spending time behind bars for cannabis related offenses for example, individuals who are not violent people, who are still going to spend years behind bars, even in places where cannabis has now be legalized.

Not every individual who faces those sorts of arguably unlucky circumstances can get so lucky to have the attention like this of the public and the support of millions calling for something to be done about it.
