Devastating Flooding in Libya Triggers Massive Loss of Life

Flooding in Libya recently has wiped out neighborhoods and thousands are missing as well as thousands who have lost their lives in the event. The destruction has been significant and has also posed some issues for rescue teams as well who are trying to come help.

With the political turmoil that has been ongoing for several years as well this seems to be contributing to rescue efforts too. Several bridges collapsed and it is feared that perhaps some 20,000 people might have died. Some residents alleged that they knew there were problems and they warned about risks in the dam for years though they say that nothing was done. There was no warning or evacuation order when many people unexpectedly found themselves in a terrible situation. So who is to blame? The loss is massive for many who have lost entire families.

International help has already started arriving but the washed away roads are making it difficult to help with the situation. This is effectively one of the worst disasters to hit the region.
