Android Nougat becomes the most-used version of Android

Android Nougat (which was released in August 2016) have become the most used version in low and medium range smartphones holding a staggering 28.5% of the market.

As for Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo released almost 6 months ago have managed to break the 1 % mark and comes in at just 1.1 percent on the sixth place.

Android Nougat 28.5 %
Android Marshmallow 28.1 %
Android Lollipop 5.0 and 5.1 24.6 %
Android KitKat 12%
Android Jelly Bean 5%
Android Oreo 1.1 %
Android Ice Cream Sandwish 0.4%
Android Ginger 0.3%

Despite Android being a wide market with approximately 2 billion users, it has always suffered when it comes to software updates with several high end devices still not updated to Android Oreo 8.0.

In comparison to Apple the iOS 10 is running on 25 % of all the apple devices which is the same percentage of users as Android Nougat, but it's latest iOS 11 runs on 65 % of all Apple devices which just accentuates as to how far Google has to go.
