A young man becomes a millionaire after forgetting for years that he had invested 27 dollars in bitcoins

He bought 5,000 bitcoins in 2009 as an experiment for his doctoral thesis

Kristoffer Koch never imagined that the experiment he did in 2009 for his university thesis would make him millionaire years later. This young Norwegian presented his thesis on encryption on the Internet nine years ago, for which he decided to invest $ 27 in bitcoins as an experiment. The cryptocurrency, practically unknown in those years, is now a real ball that has swelled the account of this boy with a not at all innocent amount.

The investment of 27 dollars, gave Koch 5,000 bitcoins to the change. According to The Guardian explains, once submitted his thesis, this Norwegian completely forgot his investment until the bitcoin began to be news around the world. Koch remembered his experiment and in 2013 he decided to enter the system in which he had saved his investment. The 27 dollars had already been transformed into 886,000. At that time, the young man decided to sell 4,000 of his 5,000 bitcoins to buy a flat in Oslo, leaving in the account 1,000 bitcoins with which to continue with his peculiar experiment.

Years later, and with the cryptocurrency in full rise (a bitcoin is paid today to more than $ 17,000), those 4,000 bitcoins would be equivalent to 68 million dollars. "My little brother always reminds me, but I prefer not to think about it," the young man explained to a Norwegian newspaper. Despite having changed part of his investment too soon, Koch continues to do business with his doctoral thesis. According to some media, a few months ago he decided to get rid of some of his bitcoins in exchange for 10 million dollars and still has in his possession coins worth 13 million dollars.
