Trump Missing From Summit?

Source

During the upcoming Asia-Pacific summits, President Trump will be absent, leaving Vice President Pence and NSA John Bolton to do the work. This seems like a pretty bad move considering the trade conflicts between China and the US and would have a good time for them all to work together. With Trump's absense, this allows Russia and China to take the stage. The two countries have been working together while the US imposes sanction after sanction and tariff after tariff. President Putin, and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will be attending and hoping to upgrade Southeast-Asia alliances. Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan and President Moon Jae-in of South Korea will also be at the regional summits. Brian Harding, deputy director of the Southeast Asia program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington had this to say:

“Every country in Southeast Asia is trying to forge a close relationship with the U.S. — they don’t want to live in a region that’s dominated by China. They want options, and they want balance,” he said. “It doesn’t send a good signal [of U.S. commitment] that the president doesn’t want to attend the one summit he’s supposed to in Southeast Asia.”

While other countries are strenghtening their bonds and dumping the dollar, the US seems to be cutting their bonds and dumping allies! How much longer will all of this come to a boil? Please post your comments in the replies section below.

Have a very nice day!
