Family Snow Shoeing on a Beautiful Sunday - 2 Degree Fahrenheit - But felt much warmer.

We had beautiful but cold day to spend outside!!

We got 5-6 inches of fresh snow on top of the previous stuff. Finally enough to get out and do some snow shoeing and spend the day outside. Only problem is it was only 2 degrees, before windchill. After shoveling and using the snow blower to clear our what the snow plow dumped in the bottom of the driveway we left right away to to go. Only down side is, I was not dressed correctly. I had on some heavy pants, no insulation, and light sweatshirt and and wind blocker.

Usually when you start climbing the hills, and get up in the bluffs and out of the wind I get pretty warm. I had hat, mittens to help keep warm. I have a history of over dressing, and then after a few minuets of climbing up the hills, I am peeling off layers and already sweaty.

Hiking Up!!!

It was a long trek, up is always slow, with lots of slipping and tripping over roots or rocks under the snow. You can see it, and its not always as deep as you thik, or you are the 4th person to go and its all crushed. Here are a few photos of the hike up.

Blazing a new trail!!

Kids got tired of all the switch backs and decided going straight up the hill was the best path to reach the top. It was way more direct, but it was a really steep climb in a foot of powder!!! Not sure it was any easier but it had to save 15 min walking back and forth. Impressed we all made it!!

Finally Reached the Top

We stopped and enjoyed the view for a few min. While we were exposed the sun felt so warm after being in the shade!!! It was not as windy as down below and it was a really nice 10 min break. The kids had fun and views looked impressive all covered in snow. You could see everyone off shoveling and snow blowing hard at work!!!

Not very impressive views, but it was still nice. After this we headed back down, and had fun going straight down plowing though the deep stuff and cutting a new trial.

We went off the part and the kids met some friends to go sledding. Kids stayed outside for hours in the cold, but never got cold. I guess all the hiking and climbing of the sledding hill really keeps you warm!! We got home, showered and had hot chocolate to warm up before they headed off to soccer!

Hope you enjoyed the pics, we had a blast
