Media Responsibility - School Shootings

Last night as I was enjoying some of the Olympic games, the local NBC new affiliate broke the action for "breaking" news. Before I even realized what I was consuming, the face and name of a young kid that broke into a school and murdered both students, teachers and coaches was shoved into my face. I am absolutely sick and disgusted by the irresponsible reporting of the sickness devouring our schools, our kids, our future! In the first 3 months of this year there are already 17 school shootings. How long has this been going on? The media still has not learned from psychology 101. The number one biggest responsibility the media has when reporting mass shootings is not to show the shooter's identity in any way. These are disenfranchised, mentally sick and disconnected people. Their primary motivation for shooting up a school is not stemming from videogames, is not from a sick obsession with guns. It is because they no longer feel connected to society. They see a chance to make a name for themselves. We are handing it up to them on a platter over and over again. The media has to start being held accountable for their part in this.
