Piedritas Verde

Last February, we carried out an educational workshop with the students of the Santa Elena primary school at Piedritas. Around 15 kids of all ages joined us on Valentine's Day (Día de San Valentín) to celebrate friendship with each other, nature, and especially the Peruvian Plantcutter. Leading this workshop was our friend and expert ornithologist, Jeremy Flanagan, of SOS Peruvian Plantcutter Project. It was a memorable day where youth could appreciate and learn more about the rich flora and fauna in the Piedritas dry forest. As Baba Dioum once said, "we will conserve only what we love."

Afterwards, we enjoyed a well-deserved dip on the beach of Malacas, and sang EcoSwell's original Peruvian Plantcutter song to close a great day!

Stay tuned, we will post the video of EcoSwell directors, @lekeleke and @diego-ecoswell singing the Peruvian Plantcutter song in upcoming posts

We hope to host more field trips like this in the near future to provide children opportunities to connect with and value the natural world around them!
