A break in the rain. Time for a hike!

Earlier this week, we went back to the place where I spent a lot of time when I was young. The whole area is special to me. My grandparents (my father’s parents) built a small cabin in the area when my father was a young. The family have been here for a very long time.

The picture is from the 90’s.

There was a break in the rain on Tuesday, so we went for a walk. This time we went further than we have ever been as a family. The destination was some big rocks at the end of a mountain lake.

Karoline was sleeping in the car, so I waited while Martin and Anita went ahead. Karoline and I caught up with them on the spot we had our small picnic in the wind.

The children were so happy; they climbed all over their mother. Everyone was laughing.

Martin trousers’ got wet in the mire and he had to continue the rest of the trip in his underwear. Luckily, it was warm enough so he did not freeze.

It’s an easy walk and not very far to get to our destination, but for Anita, carrying Karoline on her back, it was long enough.

Do you know about the red T's?

Compare the following two pictures. I’m not standing in the exact same spot, but it’s not very far off. The old picture is my grandmother sitting on the left, and my aunt as a teenager, and my grandfather standing on the path with a fishing rod. The girl standing lived on the farm by my grandparent’s cabin. The man sitting with his right shoulder towards the camera is my aunt’s uncle. He was married to my grandmother’s sister. My aunt turned 60 years this year, and in the picture, she is about 13-14 maybe. I’m not god at guessing age.

Look at the vegetation. It’s overgrown now. It was not so bad when I was young either. It has grown a lot in recent years. I think one cause is the number of sheep grazing. There used to be a lot, but I do not think there is any sheep nowadays.

Here we are at the destination for our expedition.

I found a blueberry. One. I did not see trace of any other blueberries. We are probably too late, and people have already taken them. There used to be so many.

I was sitting on the same rock when I was 16-17 years old.

The weather started to change and we headed back to the car.

The last two picures are only few meters from the car.

Luckily it didn’t start to rain before we got back home.
