Leopard Tree - Bonsai

The Leopard Tree or Caesalpinea Ferrea found in tropical and subtropical regions, is one of my favorite trees, due to the beautiful colors and patterns on the bark

They grow to to 6 meter at age 20, and their gentle canopy provides a gentle shade with their accasia type leaves...

The tree grows green seed pods that will fall to the ground and eventually germinate..

The trees can give a garden a nice forest setting when planted near each other...

So today I went looking for fallen seed pods to germinate myself into a bonsai forest...

I will now germinate these and start setting up a pot for a mini Leopard tree Forrest, as this is a long term project, I will keep everyone updated as the forest grows...

Interesting fact, even though leopard trees are found all over South-Africa, they are actually indigenous to Brazil, and most likely landed in Southern Africa back when Maputo was Lorenzo Marques, and under Portuguese control.
