Elder and it's Benefits

As i mentioned in yesterday's post, i was out hiking last weekend. On my way i came by a hedge row full of Elder bushes.

Besides making a nice picture, i also collected some of the blossoms.

From them you can make tasty snacks, or my favorite, refreshing elder syrup.

The recipe is quite easy.
You need Elder Blossoms, Sugar, Oranges, Lemons and Limes.

Clean the Elder Blossoms, by just shaking them off (don't use water!).
For each 10 Blossoms take an Orange, and approximately 750g of Sugar.
I also add a Lime and one Lemon for four Oranges.
Cut the fruits in thin slices and put them with the elder Blossoms and Sugar into a pot .
Fill the pot with water until the ingredients are covered.

Leave the pot at covered, for at least two days, in a dark and cool place. Stir the mixture by times.
When the sugar has dissolved, it's time to cook the mixture. Make it boil, and sieve the syrup into another pot.
Heat the cleared syrup up again, and fill it into clean bottles (flush the bottles with boiling water before filling).

...and ready is a tasty syrup that is refreshing with water, and lots of ladies i know love it with sparkling wine.

Cheers and have a great day Peepz!
