The Magic of Jiaogulan - Miracles of Nature

I have decided to introduce my trusted companion of the ancient days. I just got a few pots of Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum), and I think you should know more about this magician:

Jiaogulan

Jiaogulan is one of my all time favorite herbs.
It is a balancer, a little miracle of nature.

“The herb of immortality”, which is its nickname in China, has been used in traditional Chinese herbalism since the Ming Dynasty. Jiaogulan is taken as a dietary supplement to vitalize, prevent and heal numerous diseases, including hepatitis, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It can be drunk as a tea, the fresh leaves can also be simply chewed, or added to a salad. (Personally, I only use the fresh leaves.)

Numerous scientific studies have shown that the leaves of the Gynostemma pentaphyllum are rich in vitamins, minerals and gypenosides in addition to saponins, flavonoids, polysaccharides and amino acids.

Jiaogulan has been shown to exhibit potent anti-cancer activities.

Its chemical composition is similar to that of ginseng, but contains other ingredients and is therefore even more effective.

It is known for many things:

Jiaogulan calms stressed nerves and stimulates weak ones.

It provides the body with energy and invigorates the mind.

It makes you active and lively, improves reflexes and reduces nervousness.

It is an excellent antioxidant, which helps with regeneration, as well as against tiredness or exhaustion.

It strengthens the immune system, lowers blood sugar levels and helps with diabetes.

It strengthens the heart, its pumping capacity and therefore also aids blood circulation.

It also regulates blood pressure: high blood pressure is lowered and low blood pressure is raised.

All of this, and more, in just one little herb.
