Water borehole- MyPictureDay Submission

A borehole is a deep narrow hole made in the ground, especially to locate oil or water.

Making a borehole to get water is a common thing in Nigeria. Central water sources do not operate in most cases, hence private water sources are made for homes, offices or communities. A seismic exploration of the area where the borehole is to be made is done by a geophysicist and the best point where the highest volume of water would be obtained is marked for drilling.
I witnessed the making of a borehole and I took some pictures with my HTC one M8 phone.
The truck for making the borehole also called the borehole rig.

Drilling was done. The hole was drilled to a depth of 75 metres before enough water was obtained. Drilling was done for about 3 to four hours.

After about 2 to 3 hours after drilling, the pipes and pump was installed and water was pumped out. Water pumping went on for about 40 minutes to ensure that there was water in the hole to serve for years.

Pipes would be laid on another day for water to be stored in a tank.
