Next week, I will be going out on a boat to do some deep sea fishing for rockfish, lingcod, sheepshead, and maybe some fly lining for yellowtail and calico bass. This past week my dad and I had to go out and purchase the rigs for rockfishing and hooks, line, and other terminal tackle that is strong enough for big fish.
The 3 outfits
Here are the three outfits we will be bringing on the boat. The first one is a vintage million-dx 7000 spooled with 50lb braid on a 7 foot daiwa beefstick heavy spinning rod. The second outfit is the Penn jigmaster 500 spooled with 50lb mono backing (20 yards) then filled up to the top of the spooled with 50lb braid as well. The rod the jigmaster is on is a 7 foot slammer conventional rod. The third set up is the lightest, but is gonna be used for fly lining. It is a penn beachmaster 155 spooled with 15 yards of 15lb mono backing then spooled up with 50lb braid then after that I spooled about 20 yards of 25lb of monofilament topshot. The rod is a daiwa triforce baitcasting rod.

Here is a picture of the new rockfishing rig we purchased. I tipped it with a 5 inch chartreuse kaylins grub. This should definitely catch a rockfish.

Here are the sinkers we will be using, when deep dropping anywhere from 100-300 feet, We need heavy leads such as the 6 and a half ounce, 8 ounce, and even 10 ounce. Depending on the conditions, we will pick the weights accordingly.
The packaging for the rig
Here is another lure we bought for rockfish/lingcod. Only the big boys will bite this one. It is an 8 ounce jig head and a kaylin scampi lure trailer in a black color.
I attached it to one of the shrimp fly rigs as a weight and removed on fly so the rig wouldn't be so long and the legal number of hooks will be satisfied.
I will indeed make a posting of my trip out on the boat and update you guys on what I catch, but as for now, steem on and tight lines! ;)
