A couple of days ago I talked about serenade music in the Caribbean (Serenades in #mymusic / Serenatas en #mymusic [English-Español-Deutsch]), in that post I mentioned one of the most emblematic groups of Latin American romantic music, as was the Trio Los Panchos. That group had two stellar singers who carried the first voice, one was Julito Rodriguez and then came to replace him Johnny Albino, who was from a group that was the main rival, the San Juan Trio.

With this Puerto Rican singer was that the group reached its greatest successes and world fame, which took them on tour throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.

This is a group that deserves a complete post and I promise to do it soon.

But today December 19 is the date of birth of this singer born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, in 1919, and I did not want to miss the date without making this little tribute.

In 1946 he began his musical career with the San Juan Trio, in 1958 he entered the Los Panchos Trio, where he stayed for 10 years. After that he recorded as a soloist and acted alongside the biggest stars of the moment such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Xavier Gugat, Nat King Cole and Steve Lawrence.

He remained active in music until the end of his days in 2011, when he died in the city where he lived, New York.

Vor ein paar Tagen sprach ich über Ständchenmusik in der Karibik (Serenades in #mymusic / Serenatas en #mymusic [English-Español-Deutsch]) erwähnte in dieser Publikation eine der emblematischsten Gruppen lateinamerikanischer romantischer Musik sowie das Trio Los Panchos. Diese Gruppe hatte zwei herausragende Sänger, die die erste Stimme trugen. Einer war Julito Rodriguez, der dann durch Johnny Albino ersetzt wurde, der aus einer Gruppe stammte, die der Hauptgegner war, das San Juan Trio.

Mit dieser puerto-ricanischen Sänger erreichte die Gruppe ihre größten Erfolge und Weltruhm, die sie auf Tournee in den Vereinigten Staaten, Lateinamerika, Europa und Asien brachten.

Dies ist eine Gruppe, die einen kompletten Beitrag verdient und ich verspreche, es bald zu tun.

Aber heute, am 19. Dezember, ist das Geburtsdatum des in Yauco, Puerto Rico, geborener Sänger, 1919, und ich wollte das Datum nicht verpassen, ohne diesen kleinen Tribut zu machen.

Hace un par de día hablé de la música de serenata en el Caribe (Serenades in #mymusic / Serenatas en #mymusic), en esa publicación mencionaba a uno de los grupos más emblemáticos de la música romántica latinoamericana, como lo fue el Trío Los Panchos. Ese grupo tuvo dos cantantes estelares que llevaron la primera voz, uno fue Julito Rodríguez y luego de él vino a sustituirlo Johnny Albino, quien venía de un grupo que era su rival principal, el Trío San Juan.

Con este cantante puertorriqueño fue que el grupo alcanzó sus más grandes éxitos y fama mundial, lo que los llevó de gira por todo Estados Unidos, América Latina, Europa y Asia.

Esta es una agrupación que bien se merece un post completo y me comprometo a hacerlo próximamente.

Pero hoy 19 de diciembre es la fecha del nacimiento de este cantante nacido en el Yauco, en Puerto Rico, en 1919, y no quise dejar pasar la fecha sin hacerle este pequeño homenaje.

En 1946 inició su carrera musical con el Trío San Juan, en 1958 ingresó en el Trío Los Panchos, donde se mantuvo por 10 años. Luego de eso grabó como solista y actuó junto a las más grande estrellas del momento como Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Xavier Gugat, Nat King Cole y Steve Lawrence.

Se mantuvo activo en la música hasta el fin de sus días en 2011, cuando fallece en la ciudad donde vivía, Nueva York.
