Top 5 Topics To Write About (Pt.1)

Welcome to this post. Glad you are here.

Before you sit down to write some crazy lyrics you had in mind all day take five minutes to read this post about the top five topics to write about. These topics can be used for every kind of writing you do whether you're a songwriter, author or blogger.

If you've chosen one topic you want to write about, write down a general thesis that is going to support your song. A thesis makes sure your song stays transparent, and it also gives you inspiration when you need it. Furthermore, it's your GPS, and it shows you if you're still on the right track. If one sentence doesn't support the thesis, you probably know something is wrong, and you should change that.

Let's get to the nitty-gritty:

1. Love

You guessed it. Love just had to be the first topic because we all can probably name at least ten songs that are written about love. And if not, chances are good that your favorite song is about love. Whether you love or hate to write about it, it is probably one of the best topics to pick because it's timeless and sooner or later everyone feels love in their life. For us writers, this is a golden opportunity to give this person that one particular sentence or that one special song they needed to entirely get lost in their love. We don't want to miss this opportunity right?

2. Friendship

Friendship comes right after love. Let's say it is the younger brother of love. There are endless emotions you can create with this topic. Whether its bittersweet, happy or something in between - your opportunities never end.

3. Family

The family gave you your first impressions of life no matter if they were positive or negative. So it's a no-brainer that it had to be included on this list. Regrets, love, pain or admiration - all these emotions can be turned into beautiful songs. So why not write some songs about your top 3 family moments this year?

4. Conflicts

War, fights and broken hearts(btw. what a great song title this would be, feel free to use it as yours). Songs about this topic helped generations to ease the pain. Aside from that its also a tremendous viral topic. Late-night hosts use it all the time to rule the trends in media. If something big happens in the world why not write a song/article about it.

5. Loss

If you manage to put all your pain into one song, you'll probably have the best therapy there is. No psychologist can top that. It's easy to find an audience for this kind of songs because there are most likely other people that know that specific feeling or feel it at the time. And a trouble shared is a trouble halved.

Feel free to ask if there are any questions and stay tuned for part two.

I hope you found some inspiration
