The song that I will share with you this week has been circulating there for several decades. I heard it for the first time when I was 26 years old - I'm already 64 - the group Apocalipsis had recorded it on a CD. A band of young people from the Las Acacias Church in Caracas, Venezuela.
On two occasions they visited the Church that I went to at that time, located in Antímano, in Caracas itself but "from pole to pole."

They released two CDs with all original music. The first CD was gold with the group name (Apocalypse) in black, the second was black with the name in red. This song is from his first CD. I chose it because the theme for the contest this week 33 is "Friendship".and this song talks about some friends who notice in someone the fact that they always look him happy.
They ask him why he is always happy. He tries to explain as best he can that God is always by his side and that makes him happy. And it is not that he does not have problems, difficulties, pain, but that he does not go through the vicissitudes alone but rather aware that Christ is with him.

It makes us reflect on the way our Lord lived, on the way we live and on what we talk about with our friends?

La canción que compartiré con ustedes esta semana, hace varias décadas que circula por allí. La escuché por primera vez a los 26 años de edad - ya tengo 64 - la había grabado en un cd el grupo Apocalipsis. Una banda de jóvenes de la Iglesia Las Acacias en Caracas, Venezuela.
En dos oportunidades visitaron la Iglesia a la que yo iba en esa época, ubicada en Antímano, en la misma Caracas pero "de polo a polo". Las Acacias muy al este y Antimano muy al oeste. Ellos sacaron dos CDs con música toda original. El primer cd era dorado con el nombre del grupo (Apocalipsis) en negro, el segundo fue negro con el nombre en rojo.
Esta canción es de su primer cd. La elegí porque la temática para el concurso esta semana 33 es "Amistad". Y esta canción habla de unos amigos que notan en alguien el hecho de que siempre se ve alegre. Le preguntan por qué siempre está contento. El trata de explicar lo mejor que puede que Dios siempre está a su lado y eso le hace ser feliz. Y no es que no tenga problemas, dificultades, dolores, sino que las vicisitudes no las pasa solo sino consciente de que Crsto está con él. Así que, después de explicarles - no tan bien como quisiera - su experiencia de Dios. Les hace la invitación, que quien quiera vivir ese gozo, lo único que debe hacer es buscar de Dios cada día y entonces podrán cantar juntos esta alegre melodía.
La canción se llama "La alegría que da el Señor"
Ahora, hay algo que "me hace ruido" con respecto a esta canción y tiene qué ver con sus primeras lineas:
¿por qué siempre estoy contento?
Y yo, cuanto más lo digo,
Mi gozo más se acrecienta..."
¿Qué opinan ustedes al respecto? ¿Debemos esperar a que nuestra forma distinta de ser y hacer llame la atención de nuestros amigos hasta el punto de que nos pregunten por qué somos o hacemos así? O, por el contrario ¿Debemos tomar la iniciativa de hablarles acerca de nuestra experiencia de Dios sin pregunta previa por su parte?
Hay un viejo adagio - que todos conocemos - que reza "Las palabras convencen, los ejemplos arrastran"
Mmmm, si fuera suficiente predicar con el ejemplo... nuestro Señor Jesucristo no habría tenido que usar las palabras, un hombre de vida recta, perfecta. Sin embargo... tomó la iniciativa de predicar. Aún cuando quienes le conocían podían recomendarlo - sin miedo a quedar defraudados - con un simple "Ven y ve". Seguros de que sin importar el momento en que se acercaran lo encontrarían haciendo el bien.
Da para reflexionar en la forma de vivir nuestro Señor, en la forma en que vivimos nosotros y en ¿Qué conversamos con nuestros amigos?
