Something Pretty happened at Wacken 2013.

This is really the culmination of several stories. Floor Jansen has been at this game since she was 16. She attended the Rock Academie in Tilburg and was the front for a band called After Forever. She later formed another band called Revamp. After touring she suffered a burnout and quit performing. This is not uncommon as it takes an enormous effort for a band to even have a product, let alone a successful one.

Nightwish, a Finish band that formed in 1996, had just lost their 2nd vocalist in the middle of a tour and were in desperate need of a replacement singer. Anyone who is familiar with their work will understand this is not an easy task as there are few that can cover that territory. In the world of music it is not uncommon to listen to other people's work, so they decided to give Floor Jansen a call; she agreed to the request to help them finish the tour and was ready to hit the stage after 48 hours!! (unreal as most bands rehearse for 6 months before touring)

After the tour Floor Jansen became a permanent member of the Band's line-up.

Some of you who read this may not be fans of Metal, but even if you are into Opera or classical music, I think it's worth it to give this 10 minute live recording a listen/view. I think vocal coaches will be referring to this concert for a long time to come; Floor and the band got everything right. Enjoy.

I didn't do a Camera count, but I think there are at least 10, and the sound crew did some fantastic work documenting this event, the sound quality is stunning for an open air event with 85,000 in attendance.

If you liked this performance, consider buying the live DVD. I've seen it and the entire show was performed at the same level as the video you just saw. It's available here: https://www.backstagerockshop.com/collections/nightwish/products/nightwish-showtime-storytime-2dvd?ls=en

Have a good one.
