For this smooth instrumental, I started off with a pad as the main sound to the instrumental. This pad sound reminds me of some kind of heavenly sound with some swishes of wind. It really gives the vibe that something is definitely in the air. Also, for this instrumental r&b music, I mostly used the VSTi plugin called Purity
For this sound, I used the plugin PURITY and the sound is called Fairy Tale out of the Bell Percussion category in the plugin. This sound can be heard throughout the entire instrumental. This sound is what gives the instrumental a fairy kind of vibe that matches the theme of Poetry. This sound comes in at right at the drop in the beat at 26 seconds. The only sounds that you will hear is the pad and this sound. Make sure you listen to this sound as the instrumental beat progresses.
Like most of all of my instrumentals, I used this sub bass in the plugin called Hypersonic. This is one of my favorite basses to use when creating these instrumentals.
I also manage to add some SQ Strings out of the VSTi plugin purity to add to the poetry vibe of the track. I think these strings did the instrumental justice! This sound is also one of my favorite sounds to use when creating an instrumental beat. I just like how cinematic it sounds. If you're keeping up with my post then you should know by now that I love cinematic type of sounds that make an instrumental sound theatrical. These strings come in right at the 40 second mark
Now let's add some synth sounds to this instrumental and for that, I used once again the VSTi plugin called Purity. This sound is called Detune Saw. This sound comes in at the same time as the SQ Strings do, you can't miss it!
I think a good R&B instrumental always have some kind of piano in there so I had to give the track a nice piano to go along with the melody. This is the only piano in the track so you can't miss it. For this sound, I used a different plugin than Purity. I used another favorite VSTi of mines called SAMPLE TANK. It comes in handy when I need the right sounds, it's reliable to me when it comes to my style of instrumentals. Thank you Sample Tank, I love you lol
Last but not least is the another synth sound that I used out of the VSTi purity. This sound is called Simple Saw, a different type of synth saw sound from the detune saw that I used that comes in on top of the SQ Strings. This sounds comes in right at the 1:20 mark and continues to play for a couple more bars.
Those were basically all the sounds that I used to create this instrumental R&B beat. After I tweak the pad to get it to sound like how I wanted, I basically started to work on the drums from there. Some producers like to work on their drum work first before getting to the melodies but I mostly create the melody first and then work on the drums. Sometimes, I work on the drums first but that's once in a blue. With the melodies and the drum work on this instrumental, comes out the finished instrumental music!
