SEANCE is back at The Kava Lounge on Sunday March 18th.
This is a special "Black Panther" edition of SEANCE. We'll respectfully be live-mashing up music from the Black Panther soundtrack and score alongside various Afro-beat, Afro-rock, Highlife, Waka and African Electronica cuts from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Ethiopia and more via our live band Ill Atmospherics and accompanying musicians. We'll also be bringing out various African Percussionists to turn this into a full LIVE EXPERIENCE.
From the soundtrack's Kendrick Lamar, SZA and Vince Staples, we'll dive deeper with Fela Kuti, Ibaaku, Miriam Makeba, The Hygrades, The Elcados, The Identicals, Ebo Taylor, The Lijadu Sisters, Seun Kuti, and Sade. This is no way meant to be a comprehensive list, (I'm still learning a ton myself). SEANCE now holds a residency at Kava Lounge: EVERY 3RD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH
For those who don't know, SEANCE is a live music experience. We select a talented range of professional producers, musicians, vocalists, DJs and percussionists to join us on stage throughout the night to create a live experience blending Hip-Hop, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Deep House, Electronic, Latin, World, Trap and Psychedelica. This evening is hosted by ill poetic & house band Ill Atmospherics (Carlos Fisher + Jay Bybo Stevens)
