Musician’s Guide to Steemit — Fundraising Post 5 + eBook Update! [SNDBOX]

This is a big week for the Musician’s Guide.

For one thing, we’ve hired three proofreaders to take a look at the first draft of our first eBook and provide feedback. Here’s the early review squad:

Please wish these brave adventurers luck as they wade into the early draft of the book.

Team Progress Update

Our team is hard at work.

  • @kryptik is doing a bunch of research on important topics relating to the guide
  • @fivefiveeleven designed our new and amazing logo (seen above)
  • @thgalavantgirl will begin editing the first eBook by the end of this week

And meanwhile I have been running all around NYC doing important work for the project. Most importantly, I believe that I have secured a crucial promotional opportunity for the final Musician’s Guide book launch this summer.

I also met with Michael and Kirk from @sndbox. We identied some key opportunities for later in the year that might lead to major impact for the Musician’s Guide and its future incarnations.

It turns out that after you make a few books, there are a lot of opportunities that naturally stem from that. For example we have 10 freelancers working on the book. All of those people will still be around - and hungry for work - after the Musician’s Guide is done. It will be great if we can continue to provide jobs within the Steem platform past that point.

There may be opportunities to publish other books, perhaps written by other people. Or there will be other avenues by which to support the Steem music scene - from curation to live events to collaborative projects, the possibilities are endless.

I therefore see the Musician’s Guide as a gigantic experiment where we’ll hopefully make a big impact, and also learn a lot about how to approach new projects in the future.

As time rolls on I will share more information about the future plans of the project. But for now we must attend to the necessary business of raising funds.

Can You Chip in an Upvote?

So far we have raised nearly half of the funds that we will need to complete all of our operations through the end of June. We’re right on schedule and I am enthusiastic about our ability to raise the remaining funds.

The lion’s share of the funding so far comes from the @sndbox account, but it is bolstered by a few whales and a very encouraging swell of grassroots support from all kinds of Steemians.

Regardless of what kind of music you play or listen to, the fact that you upvote our fundraising posts means that we are more likely to accomplish everything we aim to do. If we can make the kind of impact on Steem that we envision, there will be many more musicians earning a living via Steem by 2019.

For now, we fundraise. If you can upvote, resteem, or send this post to some of your friends, we are in your debt. Thank you to everybody who is supporting us, and I promise more updates very soon.
