Jazz Lick for a II-V-I Chord Progression
This is a great way to build your chops. Learn the jazz lick by ear. The progression is (Dm7 G-7 Cmaj7) so listen to the chord changes and the notes. Start on the A string first finger on the 5th fret.
Once you learn the jazz phrase, practice it slowly at first until you can play the notes accurately. Remember ... accuracy builds speed. The following example below is our study for ear training as well as building some jazz vocabulary. This is only week one but the chord changes and phrases will become more complicated over time.
