1978 - 40 years ago The Rolling Stones released their 14th studio album, "Some Girls". It would go on to reach Billboard's number one spot, and become the Stones biggest selling album in the U.S. "Some Girls" is also their first album with guitarist Ronnie Wood playing as a full member. It would also be the first album since 1968's "Beggar's Banquet" on which the core band would be the only musicians, with only a few extras adding spot contributions. The band would record over 50 songs for the album, several re-worked on future album releases, 1980's "Emotional Resuce" and 1981's "Tattoo You".
The original cover artwork, by Peter Corriston, included head shots of famous woman, including Lucille Ball, Raquel Welch, Farrah Fawcett, Judy Garland, and Marilyn Monroe. But when threatened with legal action, the cover was revised first with a "Pardon our Appearance" message, and then with cutouts of the band members' faces replacing the women's faces.
