Straight Outta Compton is the debut studio album of Hip Hop group, N.W.A., a group consisting of members such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren & DJ Yella. It was released on August 8, 1988 through Eazy-E's record label, Ruthless Records. This album has been viewed as the beginning of gangsta rap with it's profanity and violent lyrics. Controversy sparked in the industry with the release of this record because most of society couldn't handle the fact that what these artists were talking about was a reality here in America.

Songs That Stand Out:

#1 Straight Outta Compton
Produced by Dr. Dre & DJ Yella
The song that really put Compton on the map. Now in present time, Compton is home of many of Hip Hop's heavy hitters, but before all of that, there was N.W.A. The beginning of gangster rap and the birth of a legacy. One of the most important records in West Coast Hip Hop.

#2 Fuck Tha Police
Produced by Dr. Dre & DJ Yella
When this song came out, N.W.A. was really saying something that no one else was really touching on. Reality. The way the cops treated them, all the unnecessary force and mindless execution wasn't a joke, and these cops aren't untouchable. So FUCK 'EM.

#8 Express Yourself
Produced by Dr. Dre & DJ Yella
I think this was one of their radio friendly records. Which is understandable, with that Isley Brothers sample in there, it's without a doubt hit. You can't help but dance to this, and Dre and Cube straight put it down. One of my favorite N.W.A. songs back when I was in middle school.

#11 Dopeman (Remix)
Produced by Dr. Dre & DJ Yella
This song is just straight up dope. One of my favorite scenes from the Straight Outta Compton movie is when Cube performs this song in the club. Classic scene. Perfectly executed west coast hip hop right here. They used to call they're music, Reality Rap, because they touched on the real life things in this world. And the Dopeman just happens to be one of them things.
