De Wallen's third album - the adventure.

De Wallen recently went into studio to record our third album.

Below is my (Slenderman) account of how the whole process went.

The whole adventure started with me and Pikkie (vocals/lead guitar) playing a gig the night that Pieter (rhythm) and Halfies (bass) were set to drive to Johannesburg. The only problem was that the gig was 200 km's away from the point of departure. This meant that I had to play the gig (which was at night) and then speed back to Stellenbosch to drop off my gear in time for their departure. Luckily all went well and I made it. Due to the fact that me and Pikkie had to leave for Johannesburg later, it meant that we would need to fly. This was very exciting for me, as I had never flown with Pikkie before, but his stance towards flying had become infamous within the band. Needless to say, 8 drinks later both of us were calm as the pilot "wheelied" the plane all the way to Pretoria.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the rest with disconcerting news - apparently there had been miscommunication with the studio and we could not record. The ruse was kept up for about 20 minutes by the rest before they told us they were joking. What a start. We proceeded to go to the studio where we chatted to the engineer who would be working with us. After the meeting was adjourned, the time to came to relax and unwind, except for the fact that we had to sit in Johannesburg traffic for an hour on the way to our accommodation. Luckily we arrived in one piece and all was well.

The next two weeks were a blast. It was an amazing experience working in a professional setup with a calm atmosphere. Many of the tracks were written in studio, which made the whole experience even more memorable. Heaps of blood (thank you Vikings, the show, that we binged from start to finish in two weeks), sweat and alchohol later and the album was done. We made many friends and memories along the way, like the impromptu open mic Karaoke Pikkie did in an effort to sell some of our previous cd's. There is never a dull moment in this band.

We're all very excited for everyone to hear the new album. It's loud, fast, dirty and balls out all the way to hell.

Get ready.
