Linkin Park : Underrated Songs

As we honor Chester Bennington for his incredible musical achievements, we just had to make a most underrated Linkin Park songs list. A lesser band than Linkin Park would have the songs below in their greatest hits album. These are the songs which were overshadowed or forgotten but nonetheless are really good.

5. With You
The first time I heard this song was a live version, which was included in an alternative rock video album, I remember going HOLY SHIT! Joe Hahn arguably does his best DJ work in this song. Overshadowed by In the End, Crawling, One Step Closer and Points of Authority in Hybrid Theory, this gem of a song didn’t even get a video! After Chester’s suicide, the lyrics are as haunting as ever.

4. The Little Things Give You Away
In their third studio album ‘Minutes to Midnight’, Linkin Park took a more melodious route and in many songs didn’t display the aggressive nu-metal style they were famous for. Leave out all the rest and Shadow of the Day got a lot of hype but this song didn’t get the attention it deserved. It is beautifully written and includes a soulful guitar solo.

3. Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You
If you are one of those fans who hasn’t checked out the Collision Course EP- collaboration between Linkin Park and Jay-Z, I really urge you to do so. It’s one of the best collaborations you will ever listen to. This song is my favorite from the album and the entire album sounds badass. Thank me later for this.

2. Papercut
From their first album ‘Hybrid Theory’, Papercut displays the kind of interplay between Chester and Mike Shinoda that would be a trademark of the band. This song epitomizes Linkin Park’s early style with the DJ scratches, the distorted guitar sounds, the chemistry between Chester and Mike. In terms of quality this song matches the band’s most popular ones and definitely deserves way more love and critical acclaim.

1. Given Up
First and foremost, listen to Linkin Park perform this song live. It is arguably their best live song and Chester shows off his range with a 17 second scream at the end. It is heavy, hard-hitting and didn’t get the kind of success in Minutes to Midnight it deserved. It is my absolute favorite Linkin Park song of all time.
