#5 - Jamiroquai

Em 1998 um amigo do curso de inglês me apresentou o Jamiroquai. Ele me mostrou algumas músicas como "Space Cowboy", "Virtual Insanity", "Alright" e "Deeper Underground". Gostei de todas elas mas nunca fui tão fã assim.
Mas nos últimos 10 anos em que eu fui conhecendo outros gêneros musicais como Blues, Soul, Jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop e Funk Music, as músicas do Jamiroquai apareciam em algumas playlists de recomendações do Spotify. E também por influencia de outros amigos e por meu amor ao contrabaixo, passei a ouvir bastante e discutir com eles sobre o quão foda é o atual baixista e também os que passaram pela banda.
Quando um belo dia eu e esse amigo conhecemos a lenda Stuart Zender, o primeiro baixista do Jamiroquai. Esse dia foi louco. Nós três assistamos juntos o show da banda brasileira Jota Quest dividindo algumas bebidas e dando muita risada. O cara é super gente boa. Então o Jamiroquai se tornou oficialmente meu TOP 5 de banda favorita.
In 1998 a friend from English Class introduced me to Jamiroquai. At that time I liked but I didn't became a fan. But on my last 10 years I discovered many music genres that I love right now like blues, soul, jazz, R&B, hip-hop and funk music, so some Jamiroquai's songs started to appear at some playlists in Spotify. Also by another friends influence and my love for electric bass, I have been listen a lot of Jamiroquai e talked withmy friends on how amazing is this new bass player and how amazing was the past ones. So, one day me and a friend had the chance to meet the legend Stuart Zender, the first bass player of Jamiroquai. This was a crazy day. We both watched a concert of a brazilian band called Jota Quest and shared some drinks and laughts. He is a very cool guy. Since that day, Jamiroquai turned officialy TOP 5.
#4 - Kings Of Leon
Essa banda me pegou desde o primeiro sucesso "Molly's Chambers". Quando ouvi essa música rapidamente me interessei pela banda e resolvi checar o ótimo álbum Youth & Young Manhood, com "Red Morning Light" e "California Waiting". Pouco tempo depois assisti pela primeira vez no TIM Festival em São Paulo, junto com Arcade Fire e Strokes e depois no SWU 2010.
Desde 2013, quando lançaram Mechanical Bull, eu considero uma das minhas bandas favoritas e ano passado após o lançamento de WALLS, é a banda que mais ouço no Spotify porque eu sempre estou tentando aprender tocar as linhas de baixo das músicas, então fico muito tempo ouvindo a mesma música no repeat, até aprender :)
This band got me since their first successful single "Molly's Chambers". When I heard this song I quickly interested myself on this band and decided to check the very good album Youth & Young Manhood, with "Red Morning Light" and "California Waiting". Som months later I watched them for the first time at TIM Festival in São Paulo (with Arcade Fire and Strokes) and then on another festival called SWU 2010 (no longer exist). Since 2013 when they released Mechanical Bull I consider one of my favorite bands and last year with WALLS, they are the most listened band on my Spotify because I always want to learn how to play bass in their songs, so I keep listening it on repeat until learn it.
#3 - Joss Stone
O que falar da minha musa? haha Quando ouvi pela primeira vez (por indicação de um ex-colega de trabalho) eu já curti as músicas de cara, quando fui procurar mais informações e vi que se tratava de uma bela jovem com uma voz poderosa... é, eu me apaixonei completamente.
Desde então eu fui em todos os shows que ela fez aqui em São Paulo (e alguns no Rio como o fantástico show no Rock In Rio). Ela canta muito, é simpática com os fãs, tem um sorriso encantador e a banda que a acompanha é muito boa. Se você nunca foi em um show dela, precisa ir.
Oh my, what to say about my muse? haha When I listened for the first time I liked all the songs immediately and when I searched for more info I realized that it was a young and beautiful girl with a very powerful voice, yeah... I felt in love. Since then I attended to all her shows in Sao Paulo and a few ones in Rio de Janeiro (like in Rock In Rio). She is a very good singer, simpatic with her fans, she has a lovely smile and her band is incredible. If you never saw her live, do it!
#2 - Franz Ferdinand
Energia, alegria, carisma e música dançante. Tudo isso encontrei no Franz Ferdinand na primeira vez que ouvi e vi.
Mas essa foi uma banda que me chamou a atenção pelo nome quando eu estava lendo alguma matéria de música. Achei curioso uma banda com um nome tão importante na historia então fui procurar do que se tratava. Foi um amor a primeira audição assim que ouvi e ASSISTI os clipes de "Take Me Out" e "This Fire".
Franz Ferdinand não me trouxe apenas boa música mas também arte visual, eles foram responsáveis pela minha formação profissional. Me apaixonei por artes, estudei as referencias da banda em construtivismo russo e decidi ser designer. Hoje, 14 anos depois, sou eternamente grato por essa banda ter me influenciado musicalmente e profissionalmente. Tenho outras boas histórias a ser contadas a respeito deles e em breve vou postar aqui também.
Energy, happiness, charism and dance music. I found all this elements when I first listen Franz Ferdinand but this band took my attention by their name while I was reading some music article. It was curious for me a band with a so important name in history so I looked for. It was love at first audition as soon as I listen and WATCHED the music videos of "Take Me Out" and "This Fire". Franz Ferdinand didn't bring me only good songs but also visuals art, they are responsible of my professional formation. I felt in love by arts, studied the band references in russian constructivism, dadaism etc and decided to be a designer. Now, 14 years later, I'm forever thankful for this band has influenced me musically and professionally. I have a lot of good stories with them to tell here and soon I will post too.
#1 - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Ao contrario de Franz Ferdinand, Joss Stone e Kings Of Leon, o Chili Peppers não foi paixão a primeira audição. Eu deveria ter uns 8 ou 9 anos quando ouvi Under The Bridge e Give It Away numa novela da TV Globo, mas eu não sabia quem tocava e naquela época era dificil o acesso à música. Voce tinha que ir nas lojas de discos e procurar, mas pra uma criança de 9 anos que mal tinha dinheiro pra jogar Mortal Kombat no fliperama, comprar LP e cassette era impossível.
Mas quando a banda lançou Californication ai sim a coisa mudou, o acesso aos CDs nas lojas já estava mais fácil pra mim que estava trabalhando. Então quando eu soube que se tratava da mesma banda que me chamou a atenção lá em 92/93 eu fiquei mais curioso ainda pra saber o que mais eles tinham a me oferecer. Todos meus amigos da escola já tinham um artista favorito e eu escolhi Red Hot Chili Peppers como a minha favorita, impulsionado pelo enorme sucesso que faziam naquele ano (1999).
Foi através deles que fiz muitas boas amizades e também cresci profissionalmente pois tudo que estudei serviu para aplicar no meu projeto RHCP Brasil (reconhecido até pela banda). Isso me levou até a receber convite para trabalhar com uma grande banda brasileira, o Jota Quest, que vou falar em breve aqui ;)
Unlike Franz Ferdinand, Joss Stone and Kings Of Leon, the Chili Peppers wasn't love at first audition. Probably I was 8 or 9 years old when I listened Under The Brige and Give It Away in a soap opera from Globo TV but I didn't know who was playing and I didn't care to look for as I used most of my childhood time on the streets playing soccer, running like every child and spending the only coins I used to receive playing Mortal Kombat arcade. But years later when RHCP released Californication the things changed, I discovered they were the same band that took my attention in 92/93 so I became more curious to know what more they had to show me. All my friends from school had already the "favorite band" so I choosed Red Hot Chili Peppers to be my favorite one, driven by the big success they were making that year (1999). Due them I made very good friendships and I also grew up professionally because everything I studied served to apply on project RHCP Brasil (a website renown by the band itself). This lead me to receive an invitation to work with a big brazilian band called Jota Quest, that I will talk more about this soon ;)
