Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Coming to Disney+

While Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is still going strong in theaters, Disney is already making plans for its life after theaters. Considering how strongly the movie is preforming in theaters I was already disappointed that Disney is sticking to their 45 days window plan. It has really small and great week to week drops and it is still the number one movie at the box office.

But, now things are worse than the 45 days window. Disney is basically going to kill this movie's digital life by offering it for free on Disney+ from November 12. Sure, this move is meant to help Disney+ when it will lunch in a few prominent Asian countries, but this will hurt Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings general profits. It seems like Disney is sacrificing another Marvel movie to help Disney+. Yes, Black Widow was sacrificed to help Disney+ and it didn't help. I am not sure that destroyed the digital life of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will help Disney+ either. It will severely damage the odds of the movie getting a sequel.

Even though the movie performing spectacularly in the U.S. box office, outside of the U.S. it isn't looking so great. In fact, the box office doesn't feel like that of a great Marvel movie at all. Just really good relative to the pandemic. This move just shows lake of faith and support in the movie and I am disappointed. I expected Marvel to take better care of their movies, but Bob Chapek seems determined to sacrifice Marvel in order to help Disney+ which has become the most important thing to Disney as of late. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings deserves more.
