looks like Captain Marvel will keep some of the classic elements from Carol Danvers' origin story. So classic that you can find them in my posts about her appearances in the comics. As the beginning of filming (February 2018, just under two months) is almost here, casting announcement are starting.
Ben Mendelsohn is rumored to be playing in the movie. But his villain role may not be that of the Skrull Emperor (as the movie will focus on Kree-Skrull wars), as rumors now suggest that he will be playing Yon-Rogg. A Kree commander who gives Mar-Vell a really hard time and tries to have him killed. You can check him out in my early posts about Carol Danvers. In the comics he is involved in the incident that caused Carol Danvers to have superpowers.
Considering that Jude Law was cast as Mar-Vell, it seem like Carol Danvers' incident of getting her powers will be close to that in the comics.
Ben Mendelsohn and Jude Law will be joining Samuel L. Jackson as he will be reprising his role as the head of S.H.I.E.L.D as the movie takes place in the 90s.
