While Brie Larson will be playing Captain Marvel, it was just announced that DeWanda Wise (She's Gotta Have It) has been cast as a co-lead in the movie. The role was called Plum, a mystery role. Ever since the announcement was made the internet has been going crazy with speculations. Well, just one speculation - Wise will be playing Monica Rambeau, another Captain Marvel.
You can never have too many superheroes in one movie, but can a movie survive 3 Captain Marvel's in one movie? I am not sure. Plus there is the small, but significant problem that Carol Danvers fans hate Monica Rambeau and vice versa. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it could cause marketing problems.
Perhaps DeWanda Wise will be a race bending of a different character, we don't know yet. But as filming starts in three months we will soon find out. Personally I hope that it is not a third Captain Marvel, it will be too much in my opinion.
