Ghost in the Shell

I got to watch this movie over the weekend. It was very beautifully done. Certainly, they did justice to the art of the original. Unfortunately, they failed to bring life to the story.

The main character is a brain in an artificial body. In addition her memories have been tampered with, so it's understandable that she is detached. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast thought they were in the same condition.

They was one line that stuck out to me.

"We don't need your consent. We never did."

Maybe it's just that I'm older and hopefully wiser, but I don't remember that being communicated in the source material. Further it's interesting that she's employed by those who stole her life. The ultimate violation.

As far as the movie goes, I'm not sure the good outweighs the bad for someone just entering the franchise with this movie. I'm certain they will be lost.
