Yesterday evening we watched the movie The Lost City of Z directed by James Gray and based on the well-known novel by David Grann. This true-life drama centers on British explorer Colonel Percival Fawcett, who disappeared while searching for a mysterious city in the Amazon in the 1920s. The cast of the movie is interesting. Charlie Hunnam as colonel Fawcett, Robert Pattison as his guide Henry Costin and Sienna Miller as his wife Nina do a great job, as well as Tom Holland as Fawcetts son Jack.
The Lost City of Z is a interesting portrayal of Colonel Percy Fawcett a man who never gave up on his dreams. There is a lot known about this intriguing man and his three expeditions to Bolivia but still the script remains flat without any depth. That is the big drawback of this movie. The acting is very good, the cinematography is great but the script is not convincing at all. The Lost City of Z could have been a great movie but it ends up in mediocrity. I give it a 5.5 out of 10
