My cousin took this pic of me on a 1998 TL1000S in 2005.
Taken with a film camera, type unknown, and scanned in 2006.
The TL1000S is a V-twin with insane amounts of torque, as can by typical of large displacement V-twin engines. There was a recall for the 1997 model (the first year the bike was produced), which resulted in the fitting of a steering damper for the subsequent model years.
The bike used a unique rotary rear damper and separately mounted coil spring. Most found the rotary damper to be horrible, and this example had the rotary damper removed and a more conventional Ohlins shock added in its place.
This bike also features six-piston brake calipers from the TL1000R model, a common upgrade for the S model.
Quite a handful, this bike, but very fun as long as you pay enough attention.
