If people are to embrace and follow vision over the long haul, it must have long term credibility. When people were asked to define credibility in behavioral terms, the most frequent response was "they do what they say they will do." Consequently, the articulation and preservation of a vision is a serious matter. If leaders are not solidly behind the followers vision, the should consider another leadership or get into another work.
To maintain credibility, leaders must monitor their ministry culture,consisting of its core values, traditions, heroes, symbols, rituals, and communication patterns. It is critical to the preservation of the ministry that is culture support the vision. For example, a church may claim to be great commission as the essence of its vision.
