Hiking Morrow Mountain State Park

Photos today. The first is from Morrow Mountain loop trail at the state park today. Morrow Mountain State Park is a part of Uwharrie National Forest. Various counties in N.C. including Davidson, Randolph, Montgomery, and Stanley comprise the national forest. Morrow Mountain State Park (Stanley County), is separated from the Uhwarrie National Forest by the connection of the Yadkin and Uwharrie rivers, into the Pee Dee river. Then this river flows onto the Atlantic Ocean.
A photo of an ephemeral pool along Bridle Trail. A note from this adventure into Uwharrie National Forest today, is that the Morrow Mountain State Park section is very equestrian-friendly. As in the past along the trails across the Pee Dee river in Uwharrie section, I've never did see rhododendron in Morrow Mountain section today. Could be the soil perhaps, and this is a very hot place in the summer! Good day here in N.C.
