What is monocot?

Simply, monocots are defined as plants whose parts are single or mono or not in pieces. The most powerful character of this single crop of plants, among others, institute leaves, fiber-shaped roots, intermittent leaves, leaf bone parallel and tend to be shaped like a ribbon and many more.In the taxonomic system, monocots are embedded in the names of large groups such as Liliopsoda, liliidae, and Monocotyledodeae.

Basically we can find examples of monocot plants in the environment around us. For plants that enter into this class is known as a plant that has many benefits for humans. One example of monocot plants is rice. In Indonesia alone, rice is a staple food that is so important.Besides grains or Graminae, another example of monocot plants is corn, pinang (Palmae), coconut, banana-pisangan (Musaceae), orchids, vanilla, ginger, turmeric, and many others.Monocots are categorized as a very useful plant group because almost all of them have good roles as sources of food, sources of raw materials in various industries, decorations, sources of biofuels, dyes, clothing, housing and many more.
