Governments are just parents for adults. Even if they're horrible parents, most children deny it despite overwhelming evidence and still think they have the greatest parents in the world.
I've noticed that it's not just the prices going up, it's the quantity going down with the price staying the same. It's essentially the same thing, but it's a trick most people don't notice. I used to buy a 5-pack of bagels at the grocery store. Now I can only buy 4-packs. Did the price go down for fewer bagels? No. I'm just paying more per bagel but it seems like I'm paying what I've always paid for the whole pack.
