So today was just like any other day of searching for pocket change Gold.
I went down to the gas station to buy a pack of smokes and paid with a $50bill.
Well low and behold! As the cashier opens the cash drawer, I was instantly blinded by the Star on this note that was gonna be my change.
Not many understand what this star indicates on U.S bills. Some may call this an asterisks bill or a replacement banknote. What this means is the previous serial numbered bill was known to have an error.
The misprinted bills are replaced with star notes because no two bills within a series can show the same serial number. The stars are used to maintain a correct count of notes in a serial number run. This makes star note scarce and widely collected.
On another note.. Low serial number are also another tip for great collecting. Any note with the serial number 00001000 and under will ultimately fatten up your portfolio!
