Sven Väth - The Godfather of Trance

Trance and Sven Väth is like Tom & Jerry - the perfect fit

Given I am here since while I already wrote about the Techno and Trance heroes of course. But for Monday Trance Sven has to be featured from me too. I grew up with him - the Frankfurt scene, the rising Electronic Music. Maybe this post includes also some facts not that known about him.

Sven Väth - the godfather of Trance. He is to me the most influential guy of the scene or at least for my personal taste along with Paul van Dyk. Check some of his Trance Tunes and a great interview.

Sven Väth about his career

Here Sven with his son talking about 20 years of Cocoon and his life (in German but incl. English subtitles). Väth inspired all Techno & Trance acts alive around the world. He was the reason I wanted to DJ. Well, I was not a successful one but that is not Sven's mistake but a lack of talent on my end but I still love the turntables with vinyl. Furthermore listen to some of his epic mixes. Some are very long but worth every second.

Interview Sven Väth about 20 Years Cocoon (his club)

If you are not a EDM / Trance fan but still want to read some background - check what Wikipedia writes below:

Sven Väth (born 26 October 1964) is a German DJ/producer and three time DJ Awards winner[1][2][3] whose career in electronic music spans well over 30 years.[4] His single, “Electrica Salsa” under the alias OFF launched his career in 1986.[5] Lovingly referred to as “Papa Sven” by his fans,[6] Sven Väth has made his mark in the music community by being one of Germany’s “pop stars” in the nineties,[7] running two famous night clubs in Germany, and starting his own company Cocoon, which encompasses a booking agency, record label, and a branch for events. He is recognized for cultivating the underground electronic music scene not just in Germany but in Ibiza as well,[7] with his own night at Amnesia for fourteen years and after-parties at creative locations around the island.[8] Sven Väth is a major proponent of vinyl,[9] using only two decks and a mixer for his extensive DJ sets,[10] his longest set having been 30 hours.[6]
