Welcome back to the beach

As always, it feels like an age since I've been around. Work has been busy and I've been trying to learn some new stuff in the evenings. As if not enough, fingers crossed I'll be a very mature student as of September and starting a Degree programme.

Something else that has also changed is our Lola and her poorly leg. There have been a good few trips to the vets over the past few months and they've found a treatment for her leg that seems to be working wonderfully. It isn't a long term fix, but one that means she's more active, vibrant and able to go on decent walks. For me, that means a slow return to early morning walks on the beach! I've missed them for the past 18 months.

This morning we saw a little boat action. It's still a fairly misty day out to the east, but clear in other areas as you can see.

Today was a third outing of the week as we slowly try to build strength in her leg. She has lost loads of muscle definition on her right rear leg.

I was happy on the inside 😁

Lola inspecting the turn around post where we stop heading south, head inland to the dunes and work our way back to the car park. We've inherited quite a lot of sand in the last 18 months. This post used to be at around chest height.

So, what have they found with her poorly leg? Well she damaged her cruciate ligament that made her knee unstable. That has healed but she now has a deformed knee which then gets inflamed and causes her discomfort. She's now on medication for the inflammation and it is working wonders. She's had further x-rays, a CT scan and a test to ensure the deformed areas of bone aren't caused by some form of cancer. Thankfully she's all clear of the nasty stuff.

She'll never be 100% again but we've been recommended a surgery for her to have which will improve her knee joint (TPLO surgery). It's quite expensive though at £4500 so we're going through the process of seeing if the insurance will pay out. Otherwise it's time to do some saving.
